sassafras are tall trees that blooms in the chill of early spring, before leaves grow. its flowers are spring's messengers. the siming mountains have groves of sassafras which are currently in bloom, offering hikers a marvelous sight. last weekend i went to the li village, xikou town, to capture the sassafras blossom in snow.
