at the end of the ming dynasty, the nation was in danger. national hero zhang cangshui (1620-1664) served lord lu, i.e., zhu yihai (1618-1662), uniting nearby volunteering armies and the troops led by zheng chenggong (1624-1662). they fought against the invading army (later the qing dynasty). but they lacked support and were beaten, retreating to seclude on an island. unfortunately, zhang was later captured for the traitorous betrayal. zhang, however, would rather die than surrender and finally he died a martyr's death. in memory of him, this street he once lived on was named cangshui street.
to east, it reaches zhongshan east road. to west, it leads to xiushui street. and it intersects kaiming street and jiefang north road. located downtown in ningbo city center, cangshui street appears quiet compared to many other places in the bustling area. shops, houses and kindergartens stand still. the grey facades of the buildings on both sides of the street are uniform but not monotonous. after cangshui health center was moved, this street is not as lively as before, but it has emerged as a quiet and suitable place for living. the former residence of zhang cangshui was restored and built into the zhang cangshui memorial hall. it is also the patriotic education base of ningbo city and the clean government culture and education base of haishu district.
